Batya Stepelman, founder of independent Denver-based wallpaper boutique WallTawk, is no stranger to the magic of wallpaper. She’s seen firsthand how just “four rolls of paper can completely change the look and feel of a powder room in a matter of hours.” It’s one of the many reasons why wallpaper is her favorite design category.
This fall, Stepelman is seeing wallpapers with lots of texture, including paperweave, jutes, linens, and sisals along with modernized nostalgic patterns.

Plush foliage
One of Stepelman’s top wallpaper picks for fall 2025 is this slightly textured matte design by Kelly Ventura. “This season, I’m noticing textiles being produced in colors that are both warm and rich and light and airy,” Stepelman says. A quintessential fall floral, this pattern is a prime example of Stepelman’s observations: delicate and feathery, yet plush in its palatial blossoming motif.

Timeless refinement
“I love grasscloth, pearlescent substrates, and new grounds that incorporate fibers,” says Stepelman. This Papier grasscloth wallpaper with a subdued floral motif gains its momentum through a brilliant depth of color and texture. Simultaneously refined and modern, this paper brings a luxurious feel to a classic, timeless pattern.

Modern nostalgia
“On the pattern side, I’m definitely seeing a lot of what I’ll call nostalgia,” Stepelman says. These patterns “harken back to a different time, but they are modernized because they are digitally printed grasscloths.” This grasscloth wallpaper by Papier captures that spirit with an autumnal dendritic pattern that brings organic movement to its richly textured, linen-like ground. The result is a tactile wallcovering that feels both historic and uniquely fresh.
