Our Story

Shawn Miller, Publisher and CEO

Born and raised in Huntington Beach, Calif., I moved in 1989 to Arizona, where I received a degree in global marketing with a minor in advertising at Arizona State University. I worked nine years for a regional magazine publisher in Arizona, learning about the magazine industry from top to bottom. In 2007, I and my wife/business partner, Kristin, along with our first child and three pups, relocated to Colorado to launch Denver Life Magazine. We now have three wonderful children and love this amazing state. I enjoy skiing, golfing, camping, hiking, fly-fishing, and spending time with my family.

Tom Visocchi, Creative Director

I grew up in Detroit, studied at the Center for Creative Studies, and worked at an ad agency before moving to Denver 25 years ago. Since then, I have done an array of creative work (plus bartending!), working at an ad agency, designing mail-order catalogs for a subsidiary of Whole Foods, and photo editing for Starz. In publishing, I have worked at Colorado Biz magazine and Denver magazine, and freelanced for Ft. Collins, Breckenridge, and Winter Park magazines for Evergreen Publishing. For the last five years, I’ve designed Denver Life Magazine.

Kerrie Lee Brown, Executive Editor

After almost 20 years working in media in Toronto, I relocated to Denver with my two boys and husband in 2014. I’m a proud Canadian, but am grateful that our family aspirations have led us to the beautiful Mile High City. I’ve had the pleasure of running several editorial and creative teams in the health and fitness, entertainment, parenting, food, and lifestyle industries—most notably, as the editor-in-chief of Oxygen Women’s Fitness magazine, founding editor of American Health & Fitness, and executive editor of Today’s Parent magazine. I’ve also freelanced for over 100 publications in the areas of fashion, beauty, celebrity profiles, extreme sports, motivation, and marketing. After taking some time off to write a book on the importance of selfcare My Heart, My Self and launch my own women’s storytelling platform Redlilylife.com, I am thrilled to be back in-house overseeing the amazing Denver Life team. Off the clock, when I’m not at the motocross track or hockey rink with my kids, you’ll most likely find me at the gym or walking my rescue French bulldog Tessie.

Jamie Froyd, Business Development Manager / Events

In my role at Denver Life, I collaborate with various clients and nonprofits to create partnerships that provide new branding opportunities and event marketing. The team’s only Colorado native, I’m a Cherry Creek and CU Boulder alum, so you’ll find me enjoying all things outdoorsy around the state in my spare time.

Mara Welty, Associate Editor

As a Colorado native, I've always been enamored by our state's bountiful offerings, from its purple peaks to its rusty rock formations. Still, I traversed to the drizzle-dense Pacific Northwest in pursuit of a Journalism degree. I explored all things. magazine publication, editing, writing, and researching for multiple award-winning print publications before trying my hand as a nonprofit grant writer, then as an online content editor, where I specialized in restaurant and business editorials- a seamless transition to Denver Life Magazine. When there's not a pen in my hand, you can find me hiking with my sweet husky, Zeus, or lying lazily under a tree.
