Hear from the Designer

How would you describe your design style and point of view?

As the owner and creative director at Floret + Co., my style is all about modern, clean, timeless spaces that feel like home. I’m a big believer in surrounding yourself with things that make you happy, and I love mixing styles — modern pieces with a few vintage finds, plus textures and thoughtfully placed color. I steer clear of short-lived trends and focus on functional, curated choices that feel different but never dated, so your home can tell your story for years to come.

What drew you to this space, and what excited you most about designing it?

Bedroom 3/Bathroom 3:

I was drawn to Bedroom/Bathroom 3 because it was a chance to put every design principle into play — balance, harmony, rhythm, proportion and scale, emphasis, contrast, and the small details that bring a room to life. When everything works together, the result is a sigh of serenity. In the bedroom I added built-ins, layered patterns and color, and carefully furnished and accessorized to create a cohesive space tailored to any future homeowner. In the bathroom, a simple change in tile color or pattern can shift a room’s era and overall feel; I enjoyed selecting the tile, cabinetry, and lighting to define the space.

Laundry Room:

Secondary rooms are an opportunity to be a bit bolder in your design choices. Adding color, texture, and pattern to walls or cabinetry makes a big impact in a small space.

Describe the vision for your room in three words—and why those words matter.

Bedroom 3:

Calm, functional, cozy.

Calm: a bedroom should feel like a refuge—quiet, uncluttered, and restorative.

Functional: thoughtful layout and storage ensure the space works effortlessly—form follows function.

Cozy: layered textures and warm finishes make the room inviting and personal.

Bath 3:

Classic, clean, warm.

Classic: timeless tile patterns, fixtures, and materials that keep the bathroom elegant today and for years to come.

Clean: simple lines, uncluttered surfaces, and thoughtful storage to keep the space feeling fresh and effortless.

Warm: warm cabinetry, brass tones, and an earthy color palette to add comfort and softness.

Laundry Room:

Moody, inviting, efficient.

Moody: sage-green cabinets, dark countertops, and brass finishes give the laundry depth and character.

Inviting: light walls, warm lighting, and tactile details make the room feel welcoming—even during chores.

Efficient: smart storage, and a functional layout keep tasks streamlined so the space is as practical as it is beautiful.

What’s one detail or decision that truly defines the space for you?

Bedroom 3:

The built-in is the defining element — it adds function and character. Adding a bench seat under the window creates a moment, and moments create comfort and purpose.

Bath 3:

Choosing a wall tile layout that is both vertical and offset implies a design that combines modern and classic.

Laundry:

Combining a diagonal orientation, checkerboard layout, and alternating tiles in a matte finish is a deliberate design decision that maximizes visual impact, shifts spatial perception, and evokes mid-century and timeless modern design aesthetics.

How did you balance beauty with real-life functionality?

Bedroom 3:

I balanced beauty with functionality by painting the featured built-in wall a serene blue and designing open shelves that are accessorized to evoke an emotion of thoughtful practicality. The result feels curated yet usable—beautiful styling that also guides everyday function.

Bathroom 3:

A warm, earth-toned palette in the bathroom creates a serene experience while remaining neutral enough for personal touches.

Laundry:

The laundry room’s finishes—moody hues and timeless tile patterns—introduce design interest without sacrificing storage or efficiency.
