Hear from the Designer

How would you describe your design style and point of view?

As the owner and creative director of Floret + Co., my style is all about modern, clean, timeless spaces that feel like home. I’m a big believer in surrounding yourself with things that make you happy, and I love mixing styles—modern pieces with a few vintage finds, plus layers of texture and thoughtfully placed color. I steer clear of short-lived trends and focus on functional, curated choices that feel distinctive but never dated, so your home can tell your story for years to come.

What drew you to this space, and what excited you most about designing it?

I was drawn to the third bedroom and bathroom because they offered a chance to put every design principle into play—balance, harmony, rhythm, proportion and scale, emphasis, contrast, and the small details that bring a room to life. When everything works together, the result is a sigh of serenity. In the bedroom, I added built-ins and layered patterns and color, then carefully furnished and accessorized the space to create a cohesive environment tailored to any future homeowner. In the adjoining bathroom, even a simple change in tile color or pattern can shift a room’s era and overall feel, and I enjoyed selecting the tile, cabinetry, and lighting to define the space.

The laundry room, meanwhile, felt like the perfect place to be a bit bolder. Secondary rooms are an opportunity to experiment, and adding color, texture, and pattern to the walls or cabinetry can make a big impact in a small space.

What’s one detail or decision that truly defines the space for you?

In the bedroom, the built-in is the defining element—it adds both function and character. Adding a bench seat under the window creates a moment, and moments create comfort and purpose.

In the bathroom, choosing a wall tile layout that is both vertical and offset creates a design that blends modern and classic.

In the laundry room, combining a diagonal orientation, checkerboard layout, and alternating tiles in a matte finish was a deliberate design decision that maximizes visual impact, shifts spatial perception, and evokes mid-century and timeless modern design aesthetics.
