Rec Room
At HW Home, design is both an art and an experience—an intentional balance of sophistication, craftsmanship, and refined comfort.
For the showhouse, the rec room was designed by HW Home designer Ron Werner, reflecting the brand’s signature approach to spaces that feel layered, inviting, and thoughtfully composed. A Colorado company with a global reach, HW Home curates exceptional furnishings from around the world through a disciplined, design-forward lens. Its aesthetic is architectural yet warm, defined by sculptural silhouettes, layered textures, natural materials, and modern forms composed with precision. The result is interiors that feel collected rather than decorated—timeless in their foundation and modern in their expression.
Rooted in thoughtful curation, HW Home offers bespoke design services for both residential and commercial interiors. From concept to completion, the team collaborates closely with each client to shape environments that reflect individuality while maintaining a cohesive, effortless flow. Proportion, texture, and harmony guide every decision.
Many pieces can be experienced in HW Home’s showrooms, and all are available to ship directly through custom order or quick delivery from the company’s deep inventory. White-glove service ensures every detail is considered—because at HW Home, business is personal and aspirational living is always within reach.
Hear from the Designer
What drew you to this space, and what excited you most about designing it?
Lower levels are often overlooked, reduced to the idea of a “basement.” But today’s architecture offers something entirely different: high ceilings, expansive window wells, and an incredible sense of privacy.
What excited me was the opportunity to redefine that perception. This space became a fully realized living environment, layered with a reading nook, a functional bar, and gathering, relaxing, and entertaining areas.
It allowed us to transform what was once a rec room into something elevated, intentional, and deeply livable, while still honoring the home’s modern colonial architecture.
What’s one detail or decision that truly defines the space for you?
The Arcadia credenza serves as a defining moment in the space. Its arched detailing subtly mirrors the architectural language found throughout the room, particularly in the reading nook and wet bar.
It’s not something you immediately call out, but your eye and more importantly, your mind, registers the harmony. That repetition creates a sense of cohesion and quiet comfort, grounding the entire design.
How did you balance beauty with real-life functionality?
Balancing beauty with functionality is the essence of good design; it’s not an afterthought, it’s the discipline.
It starts with understanding the client, the architecture, and how the space will actually be used. From there, every decision serves both form and function.
We designed for gathering, ample seating for watching a game or a movie, a game table for connection, and even elements of play like foosball. Every piece contributes to a space that feels inviting, works effortlessly, and still delivers that sense of impact when you walk in.
Because at the end of the day, a space should be beautiful, but it should also work, live well, and hold people comfortably within it.
