No trip to Modern Nomad Home + Studio is ever the same. With a wide array of vintage treasures and contemporary lifestyle items to explore, this Denver-based shop is as much a haven for home goods as it is a showcase for artisanal artifacts from around the world.
Since opening its doors in 2017, Modern Nomad has inspired home enthusiasts, designers, and stagers alike, thanks to a highly curated and ever-evolving inventory. From handwoven Moroccan rugs to elegant French antiques, every piece has a story that speaks to the core of founder Becky Miller’s passion for building intentional living spaces.
“Our selection is a living collection,” Miller says. “It’s about more than just decorating your home; it’s about finding pieces that add character and tell a story. We carry brands from France, Italy, Turkey, Morocco, Australia, Japan, India, Mexico, and Colombia, to name a few.”
Miller hand picks items with great care, infusing every corner of her store with a warm, adventurous nature. With parents from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, she grew up in a home filled with furnishings from around the world. From an early age, she was fascinated with the conversations household items have in space. Miller brings this same enthusiasm for conversation and storytelling when sourcing objects. “I love it when sourcing is organic and stems from meeting people on my travels. Sourcing ultimately is about forming lasting relationships. Many of our lines are created by international artisans, yet we also believe in supporting local artists.”
With an emphasis on embracing the soul behind beautiful objects, Modern Nomad is a celebration of diversity, culture, and the world at large. “I’ve always been inspired by more of a worldview when it comes to design. One of the most amazing things about traveling is getting to see how people live. You can see how others create beauty.”
Customer favorites include vintage pottery, lighting, home accessories, hand-poured candles, sustainable beauty products, and unique textiles. Modern Nomad also has a fun selection of pantry items. “We’re always sampling non-alcoholic wines and cocktails,” Miller says.
Modern Nomad also hosts a variety of community events. “Our dinner party series called Perfect Strangers is really fun. For each one, we highlight a certain area of the world, featuring music, cuisine, and home decor from that region. We did Japan first and are thinking of doing Brazil next. We can’t wait to do it again.”
