Kimberly Gibson fell in love with design as a child growing up in Napa, California. She moved to Colorado to pursue her interior design degree 17 years ago and has been helping her clients realize their greatest aspirations in terms of furniture, space planning, and home remodeling ever since. Now, she and the love of her life are building their dream home: a modern farmhouse on 1.5 acres. “After so many years of being a designer,” she says, “I want to pinch myself at the idea of finally utilizing some of my favorite decor elements in our new home.”

Hex on You
“I love the cleanliness of an all-white kitchen. However, it’s important to include some dimension and movement throughout the space so the selections provide some warmth and don’t read as sterile. The gray veining in this Carrara marble hexagon tile from Clé Tile achieves this goal. This hexagon is the perfect shape for minimal grout lines and provides an element of the unexpected by not being a traditional subway tile.”

Fill ‘er Up
“To complement the art-like tile work in the kitchen, we’ll be adding in something I’ve always dreamt of having: a pot filler from Signature Hardware. The convenience of being able to fill your pots and pans with water right at the range is quite a luxury. Although the hardware on the cabinetry is modern and black, a brushed nickel pot filler in an antique shape will enhance the farmhouse feel.”

Evergreen
“One of my favorite design elements is to bring the outside indoors. Our dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows, so I used that as inspiration to cover the walls in a pine green grasscloth textured wallpaper from Graham & Brown. The variation of color and richness of the fabric will complement the view, adding warmth to the space.”

Bells and Whistles
“Pendant lighting pendant options are abundant, and I’ve spent hundreds of hours combing through inventory for clients. The Flynn recycled glass pendants from Pottery Barn keep me coming back for more. The collection features floor lamps, table lamps, drop pendants in two sizes, and wall sconces. I’m using every bit of restraint I have not to put them everywhere in our home.”

Yukon Territory
“One furniture collection that I’m always swooning over is the Yukon collection from Crate and Barrel. The gray acacia wood tables feature the most beautiful details and depth. On top of all that dimension, the table features oversized butterfly joints, which is a surprise element that stands the test of time.”
