For this bath renovation project, the team at TruDesign took color out of the equation with spectacular results.

When the professionals at TruDesign took on this project, the primary bathroom had not been addressed since the home was built in 2000, and it required a complete redesign, starting with gutting what was already there. “With the exception of the shutters, everything was reimagined,” say TruDesign’s principal designers and owners Cynthia Stafford and Lindi Bolinger, “from the lighting plan to the flooring. We added an angled wall, wall color and texture, cabinetry, tile, and a tub and vanity.” The client’s desires were pretty straightforward. The finished space should be truly functional with double sinks for the homeowners’ convenience as well as a true vanity for the lady of the house to access skin care and makeup without the couple falling over each other. Handmade tile and a vanity desk from Crystal Cabinets helped to separate the counter spaces both physically and visually.

They also wanted a monochromatic look that still had character, so the TruDesign team utilized a hand-made tile that looks simple at first but results in beautiful nuances of pale silver and gray.

The Details

“The tile used around the tub and vanity are the same custom, handmade material from Sonoma Tilemakers. Because each is hand-crafted, they don’t look uniform, which fulfills the need for more character.”

“The smoked crystal pulls come from JVJ Hardware’s Pure Elegance collection. We selected these for their unique beauty—they’re the fine jewelry of this room.”

“The freestanding spa tub is from the Evanescence collection from BainUltra, whose product line is aimed at promoting relaxation and wellness. This made it a natural fit for this project—sleek design, light therapy, and 38 air jets come together to emulate a luxury spa experience.”

“The silver teardrop pendants flanking the vanity are antique mercury Arianna lights from Arteriors Home.”

“The mirrors are backlit. We utilized this option from Electric Mirror rather than pendants in order to keep the space as clean and spa like as possible.”

“For the Royalton chandelier above the tub, Hudson Valley Lighting truly out-did themselves with this crystal beaded piece. The way the crystals cascade down and gather back up gives us major pearl necklace vibes. As a plus, it’s also dimmable, which made it a natural fit for relaxation.”
