Deciding which home designs to offer at their new community in Castle Rock was a unique process, says Brad Weiman, Work Shop Colorado’s owner.

“We reviewed the design of every custom and spec home we’ve done over the past almost 20 years, did some quality control, and perfected them to meet the demand of the market,” Weiman says. “We’re calling this community Signature at Crystal Valley because these are our top nine best designs, showcasing the very best parts of all of our homes.”

Though the homes—starting at $2.1 million—are considered semi-custom rather than custom, they’re as close to custom as you can get. “The only reason they aren’t considered custom is that the new homeowners don’t have a say in every single detail,” Weiman says. “But there are still so many upgrades and different options for making it their own, but without the headache of a full-custom build.”

A ratio of just nine models available across 33 lots also helps promote the custom look and feel, he adds. “At Work Shop Colorado, we have our own aesthetic—modern mountain with our own flair. As a design-build firm, we also manufacture many glass, steel, and wood elements of our homes in-house, in our 24,000-square-foot fabrication shop, adding to the unique look.”

The nine home designs for Crystal Valley, all named after trees, range in size from 4,500 to more than 7,000 square feet. They can be personalized with various garage sizes and either an in-ground or walkout finished basement.

The lots, ranging up to about ½ acre, were carefully divided to maximize views and privacy. The east side of the site backs up to a mountain, while the other side has slightly sloping lots. This means both sides will have equally stunning mountain views to the west. That’s why Weiman also strongly suggests choosing one of his favorite upgrades: a rooftop deck.

“Signature at Crystal Valley is all about the caliber of the carefully curated home designs, highlighted by the location, the size of the lots, and of course, the views,” he says. “We believe it’s our best work to date.”
