A Suburban Denver Kitchen Transformed by Greenwood Cabinets & Stone

Breathing new life into a dated kitchen proved a worthy challenge to a seasoned designer who pulled out all the stops.

Dream kitchens don’t just roll off a showroom floor. Rather, they are conceived by skilled kitchen designers who realize the importance of flow, functionality, scale, and aesthetics. Even more essential are the individual needs of the client who will be using the space and serving the kinds of meals their families and friends will remember for decades. Betsy Goldstein, a professional kitchen designer with Greenwood Cabinets & Stone, was hired to transform a kitchen in a suburban Denver home, and the foremost goal was creating ample seating for the family of seven to all enjoy meals together while maximizing the adjacent breathtaking views of two nearby lakes bordered by greenery and teeming with wildlife.

The former kitchen and dining room were dark and cramped and had been divided by various walls; the area called for a total remodel. Once reconfigured, the ensuing monochromatic color scheme enhanced the feeling of space with clean, white cabinetry and tile throughout, warmed by a natural hickory floor sealed with a clear matte finish—a statement both contemporary and timeless. Assessing the overall project, Goldstein says, “In addition to the inspiration of my fabulous clients who were a big part of the successful result, I’d like to thank my dad for my artistic skills and attention to detail, and my mom for my ability to connect with others.”
